The Future of Languages At Primary Level

Coincidentally, La Famille Jolineau en vacances is being published at a time when the government will be deciding whether or not primary schools should be legally required to teach foreign modern languages. Although,to their credit  most primary schools currently offer a language, there is as yet no statutory framework or syllabus. The government’s decision will also have significant funding implications.

Parents should closely follow these developments and check with their children’s primary schools what they currently offer in terms of languages.

For an overview of the national languages strategy, you can also look at the very informative website of the Languages Company,  www.languagescompany.com
